Brighter days ahead: Sunset in Edmonton will soon be at 5 pm & later

We love snow-covered mountains and frostbitten trees, but the lack of sunlight? That’s our least favourite part of the winter season.

Luckily, according to Time and Date, the worst is over! Sunset in Edmonton will soon occur a half hour later than it did on December 21st, 2023 – the Winter Solstice.

Recognized as the shortest day of the year, December, 21st saw just 7 hours and 27 minutes of sunlight, as opposed to January 24th, 2024 – in which we’ll get nearly 8 and a half hours of vitamin D!

Starting on the 24th, the sun will set over Edmonton at 5 pm, a luxury we haven’t had since the beginning of November meaning that brighter days are ahead!

Can’t wait? Well, it only gets better!

The next two months may see colder temperatures but it’s just a matter of time until you’ll be able to enjoy your commute home with an hour of sunlight to spare – if of course, you work a 9-5.

Starting on February 24th, 2024 the sun will begin to set at 6 pm – so get excited!

Heck, why look way ahead to our next Daylight Saving Time, which will start on March 10th, 2024 and will bring a 7:30 pm sunset over Edmonton.

The winter blues are real, but the sun will come out tomorrow and it’ll stay put just a while longer than it did today and for that, we can be thankful!

Exciting things are coming.
