Action! Summer Movie Nights returning to downtown Vancouver

Oh, outdoor movie nights in Vancouver, how we missed thee. Today, Downtown Vancouver revealed that one of its most popular series, Summer Movie Nights, will make a return this year! The series, which started a few years ago, has become a must-do activity for movie lovers.

And we’re sure that 2022 will be no different! Details are slim at the moment, but the movies will once again be shown at šxʷƛ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (north of the Vancouver Art Gallery). For all of July and most of August, you can head down on Thursday to catch a fan favourite on their 4-story inflatable screen.

As for the lineup, things are still up in the air. According to Downtown Vancouver, each week will see a different theme based around the movie, and some of them will be driven by a public vote beforehand. One confirmed pick? Clueless, thanks to a teaser made via Instagram.

Of course, maybe the biggest draw is that these showings will be free! So whether you’re making a night of it, or just checking out a clip or two after dinner, it’s really a can’t-miss option for the city.

Stay tuned for announcements about which movies are in the running!
