Starting July 7, every Thursday until August 18, Summer Movie Nights are back on at the šxʷƛ ̓ənəq Xwtl’e7énḵ Square (formerly Vancouver Art Gallery North Plaza). Presented by the DVBIA, this year’s lineup is seriously lit!
On top of the main event (the movie played on the iconic 4-story hight screen duh!), make sure you check out all the other activations happening at the Square, including hula-hooping, mini-golf, stilt walkers, drum circles, choirs, and tons more.
And as if that wasn’t enough for an amazing summer staple, Summer Movie Nights is bringing it up several notches on July 28.
The evening will feature a pride take-over by Van Vogue Jam with drag performances, go-go dancers, and music by DJ Black Cat from Toronto.
While the movie screening will start after sun-down, the activations begin at 4pm. And as is common knowledge, all events are free to attend.
Coming to the movie lineup that was just dropped by the Downtown Vancouver BIA – yeah we know that’s what you came for – it consists of a mix of new hits, classic faves and an exciting twist. The twist being that you can vote for the movie you want to view on the final night. Your choices: Dune or Godzilla vs. Kong.
Here, check out the movie line-up:
July 7th – Mean Girls
July 14th – Jumanji (1995)
July 21st – Spiderman: No Way Home
July 28th (PRIDE) – Moulin Rouge
August 4th – Space Jam (1996)
August 11th – Jurassic Park (1993)
August 18th (Audience Vote Night) – Dune or Godzilla vs. Kong
Ready to choose?
Just so you know, there will be a best-dressed contest each night. Meaning, that now will be a good time to pull out your movie-themed attires from the dusty corners of your closet.
We’ll see you there folks!
