Daylight Saving Time begins in Washington this weekend & here’s what to kow

Spring will officially be here in just a little over a week. For Washington, that means tulips, gardening, fairs, and more. But there’s something else to look forward to before the change of seasons, Daylight Saving Time! Yep, we’re all going to lose an hour, but we’ll gain longer and longer days.

Now you might be wondering, didn’t Washington get rid of Daylight Savings Time? Technically speaking yes, or we at the very least began the process of getting rid of it.

If you can remember all the way back to the pre-pandemic years, Washington State passed House Bill 1196. This bill’s purpose is to allow “for the year-round observation of daylight saving time.” This change has been considered in several other states and is not observed in both Arizona or Hawaii.

Well, as we all know, things don’t exactly move quickly in Washington and there has yet to be a change or update on our state’s future Daylight Savings Time laws.

That being said, there is plenty to look forward to, like the fact that the sun will finally set after 7 PM, meaning you’ll have a few more hours of daylight to enjoy after work!

So with that, for now, this weekend on Sunday, March 12th, 2023 at 2 AM, our time changes and it will “spring forward”! Adjust your oven’s time, and perhaps the microwave too. And enjoy the extra sun!
