Get ready, Columbia City, because beloved Indian street-food hotspot Spice Waala is coming to the neighborhood. Expanding from Seattle’s Capitol Hill and Ballard neighborhoods, the third location will offer a menu full of its popular dishes.
Set to open in early 2024 and located at 5020 Rainier Ave. S, the new Spice Waala will cook up the flavours of Indian street food.
Dishes are inspired by inspired by Calcutta and Delhi and the new spot will have a walk-up window for lunch and dinner, and also outdoor seating for sunny days.

On the menu you’ll find items like the signature kathi rolls ($7.50), Indian snacks like chaat ($5.50), bhel puri ($4.50), and fries ($3.50). There will also be a monthly rotating specialty soft-serve flavor ($5.50) and the mango lassi, aptly dubbed “liquid gold” ($3.50).
Founders Dr. Aakanksha Sinha and Uttam Mukherjee, who are also Columbia City residents are excited to introduce the area to a “new type of Indian food that they may have never eaten.”
Beyond the culinary delights, Spice Waala stands out for its commitment to social justice and food insecurity. The restaurant has donated over 200 meals a week in the last three years through organizations like Mary’s Place and Community Lunch on Capitol Hill.
So mark your calendars and get ready to enjoy some of Seattle’s favorite eats.
