Ontario’s most popular ski hills are opening for the season this week

It’s officially ski season and that means ski hills in Ontario are welcoming the public back to the slopes.

Ontario’s popular ski resorts including Blue Mountain, Horseshoe Valley, Calabogie Peaks, and more have announced their plans for the 2022-23 season, and opening day is sooner than you think!

Blue Mountain opens for the season this Thursday, December 15th, when the Silver Bullet chairlift and Easy Rider beginner lift will begin running.

Last year, Blue Mountain opened on December 10th and didn’t close for the season until April 18th, so we’re hoping for another long ski season this time around.

Horseshoe Resort will also hold its opening day on December 15th, and that includes alpine chair lift operations for daytime and night skiing and snowboarding.

All other winter activities at Horseshoe Resort, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snow tubing, and fat biking are expected to open later this month.

Snow Valley in Barrie is set to open its slopes on Friday, December 16th for skiing and snowboarding, with other activities including snow tubing opening later this month.

As for Calabogie Peaks, the opening weekend will be held on December 17th and 18th.

Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area in Muskoka will also host its opening weekend from December 16th to the 18th.

Meanwhile, Mont Tremblant in Quebec has been open since November 24th, and Porter Airlines is running flights between Toronto and Tremblant throughout the entire ski season.

It’s time to get your gear ready for the months ahead! With all the snow we have coming our way, we’re in for a strong start to the ski season.
