This Ontario park has three sandy beaches & picturesque hiking trails

Though tropical getaways sound like a great way to unwind and relax, you don’t really need to travel far for some peace and quiet. Nestled just a few hours away from the busy cityscape is this Ontario park. Known for its three sandy beaches and picture-perfect hiking trails, here’s what to know about Six Mile Lake Provincial Park.

Just around a two-hour drive north of Toronto is Six Mile Lake, a charming piece of nature with stunning landscapes. In fact, they’re so stunning that it has inspired many painters throughout the years, according to Ontario Parks.

You can explore its grounds via three scenic hikes, they’re short, rugged, and linear but all interconnected.

Stroll along The Living Edge Trail and perhaps experience a beaver lodge sighting; walk down The David Milne trail admire the majestic vistas that inspired one of Canada’s foremost artists who lived on Six Mile Lake; trek through The Marsh Trail and admire the wetland area where a number of plants and wildlife live.

It’s important to note that you’re unable to bike along these trails as it is not permitted – only walking.

Once you’re ready to cool off, enjoy one of the three sandy beaches at Six Mile Lake. According to Ontario Parks, they are located near park areas and are within walking distance.

There is also a beach designated for pets and is the only beach where they’re allowed.

Care for a game of volleyball? Near the main day-use area, there is a beach volleyball court for a little friendly competition amongst friends.

Fee

According to Ontario Parks, the cost of a Day Use permit depends on the time of the year whether it be on or off-season, and by park.

Entry fees for vehicles start at $12.25, but for a full day at Six Mile Lake Provincial Park in the summer season, the cost is $15.93 plus tax. For park-specific fees, contact the park directly.
