This popular Ontario park is offering new torch-lit hikes this winter

Don’t let the winter blues bring you down! Enjoy the beauty of the cold season at Sibbald Point Provincial Park. This Ontario park is a hidden winter wonderland just an hour’s drive north of Toronto and this year, they’re introducing torch-lit hikes.

Nestled on the south shores of Lake Simcoe, this park is a peaceful place to spend an afternoon hiking and enjoying a few winter activities.

In the summer, one of the park’s main attractions is its large sandy beach, perfect for soaking up the sun and swimming in the calm waters.

But in the winter, it is one of the most popular ice-fishing destinations in Ontario, according to Ontario Parks. And this year, the park is introducing torch-lit hikes starting December 23rd.

According to the park, this journey takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to complete depending on your pace. The hikes take place between 6:30 PM and 9 PM.

“We recommend bringing your own snowshoes, however, they are optional depending on the amount of snowfall, shares the park.

Other winter activities include winter birding and a self-guided adventure lab where you create, play, and share location-based experiences.

While you’re in the area, you can visit the cute little town of Jackson’s Point, where you’ll find waterfront trails, family-owned restaurants, shops, and more.

Embrace the tranquility of the park, immerse yourself in nature, and uncover the wonderful winter beauty of Ontario.
