The Shops at Buffalo Run are open and you’re invited to the grand opening party

They may be new in town, but there’s an unreal number of shops and eateries to check out at Buffalo Run, and they’re having a party to celebrate!

Taza, a dynamic development blending economic progress with cultural heritage in Tsuut’ina Nation, is opening the doors to The Shops at Buffalo Run. This new retail hub is part of Buffalo Run, one of three villages in Taza, and will include shopping, dining, entertainment, offices , and residential living spaces.

Good news: the grand opening is on June 7th. Better news: you’re invited!

The Shops at Buffalo Run is a vibrant retail space that’s already home to over 30 businesses. On a regular day, you’ll be able to find shopping, dining, professional and personal services, and banking.

You can expect all of this for the grand opening plus performances, games, dancing, live music, prizes, and more.

The event will kick off with an Elder blessing, smudge ceremony, and speeches. Plus, the first 250 visitors will be treated to free cupcakes and swag bags. Yum!

From there, you can enjoy captivating performances of traditional drumming and dancing by the Buffalo Track Youth Dance Group and Powwow dancers, view the formal introduction of the Tsuut’ina Princesses, cheer for the Tosguna Police vs. Tsuut’ina Nation Fire & Rescue Service Tug of War Competition, and support local organizations for a chance to win fantastic prizes.

The theme of the event, “Blossom & Bloom,” is inspired by the crocus, which has great significance in Tsuut’ina Nation. Crocuses are thought to boost the spirit, and spotting the first crocus of the year in the prairies marks the end of winter, signifying growth and change.

The grand opening of The Shops at Buffalo Run marks an exciting new chapter in Taza’s growing community development. Taza is a collaborative partnership between Canderel and Tsuut’ina Nation that combines industry expertise with Indigenous participation and leadership.

The Shops at Buffalo Run support Taza’s vision of economic growth and cutting-edge urban design on First Nation land. The retail district is dedicated to creating opportunities for new businesses, investments, and jobs that will benefit generations to come.
