Seattle’s iconic Elephant Super Car Wash is closing after 64 years

Well folks we’re sorry to tell you this but Seattle’s iconic Elephant Super Car Wash is closing its doors after 64 years. And the closure of the Battery Street location comes after an increase in crime, drug activity, homelessness, and operating costs.

So with all this in mind, the Elephant Super Car Wash corporate team had to come to the hard decision to close this iconic spot. But they’re not the only ones feeling the pain. After all, the Denny Triangle is one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in the state, and with the pandemic, businesses have been hit hard.

So we will greatly miss seeing this Seattle staple. But we’re happy to say that the pink elephant neon sign will be stored at the Museum of History and Industry! So you can still go see this piece of Seattle history in all its glory.

We certainly hope that this is the last piece of Seattle history that we’ll be losing this year.
