Feeling spooky Seattle? You better be, because we’re approaching the middle of the month with our things to do this weekend in the city. Before you know it, you’ll be buying all the candy you can and cackling to yourself beside your wood-burning stove. Oh, that’s just us? Ok, fair enough.
Here are 8 things to do this weekend in Seattle.
Maribou State
Another critically acclaimed British powerhouse in the electronic world, with backing from the likes of Annie Mac, Pete Tong, and Mixmag. Honestly, we’re surprised the show isn’t sold out.
When: Friday, October 11
Where: The Showbox
Tickets: $19.99
Water Lantern Festival
Voted the #1 water lantern festival in America by USA Today (weird thing to rank but we’ll take it). Head down to the Seattle Public Theatre, design your own lantern, then launch it with (probably) thousands of others. Should be neat!
When: Saturday, October 12
Where: Seattle Public Theater
Cost: $25
Seattle Queer Film Fest
This massive festival will have everything from artist talks to short film nights and the year’s most talked about queer films. One of our top picks is Beauty and Decay, a documentary looking at Berghain’s most famous bouncer.
When: On throughout the weekend
Where: Venues around Seattle
Tickets: Vary per event
Market of the Beast
Ha, see what they did there? Because this is a weird vintage market, they’re associating it with the occult. And we are hella down for it. Catch us out their bartering for a cursed tarot card deck.
When: Saturday, October 12
Where: Unicorn, 1118 E Pike Street
Cost: Free to attend, must be 21+
Burke Museum Grand Opening
Ready to learn something about our great state? You better be, because the new Burke Museum opens to the public this weekend. Head down to check out a new cafe, new exhibitions, and other fun stuff!
When: Opens Saturday, October 12
Where: 4300 15th Avenue NE
Cost: Free to attend!
BIG K.R.I.T.
A new Southern legend, who has worked with the likes of Ludacris and Bun B. With influences stemming from Scarface, UGK and Outkast, this is the perfect show for those who want to show the south some love.
When: October 12
Where: Neptune Theater
Tickets: $23.50
Leavenworth Oktoberfest
Although it’s a couple of hours outside of the city, Leavenworth is guaranteed to be the most fun Oktoberfest in the Pacific Northwest. Think about it… a true Bavarian town nestled in the mountains. Find a DD and go get weird out there.
When: October 11 and October 12
Where: Leavenworth
Cost: $10-$20
Sum 41
Relive the glory of the early 2000s with Sum 41. Honestly, we would love to be able to scream sing the lyrics to ‘In Too Deep’ at the show. Heck, we’re going to. We’ve been trying to keep our head from going under for too long.
When: October 13
Where: Showbox SoDo
Tickets: $35
And there you have it, folks! All the events and things to do this weekend in Seattle. We have to admit, we’re pretty intrigued by the Market of the Beast. The question is, will it take an interest in us? SpoooOoooky.
