If you’re a die-hard Starbucks fan there’s a new program that you’re going to want to hear about. And that is The Borrow A Cup program. It’s part of the companies goal to reduce waste by 50 percent by 2030. So keep reading to learn more because your local store might just be participating.

Basically, customers can opt to use one of these reusable cups for a hot or cold drink with a $1 deposit. And when they’re done, all they have to do is scan and deposit the cup at one of the store’s contactless return kiosks. Plus customers get rewarded for using the program with 10 Bonus Stars on their Starbucks Rewards account.

But what’s unique about this is that it’s only available at 5 Seattle locations. And it’s only happening until May 31st. So we’ll be curious to see how it works and if the company decides to expand the program. But we’ll keep our fingers crossed that customers can simply bring their own cups once more people are vaccinated.

Now if you’re wondering, each cup is professionally cleaned and sanitized by a company called GO Box.  So it’s a very safe and streamlined process. And we hope it’s the start of a greener future for Starbucks. If you’d like to learn more you can click here.
