An exclusive look inside a Capitol Hill treasure
Whenever we feel the need to escape the gloominess of Seattle, we head over to Stateside for a quick bite to eat. Not that we don’t love the rain, but sometimes it’s nice to be transported to a tropical oasis.
This French-Vietnamese fusion spot is bright and airy and complete with tropical plants on the wallpaper. Whether you’re at a table or posting up at the bar, Stateside will make you forget what the weather is like outside.
We think you should start with some of their crispy duck fresh rolls and a cocktail or two. The light yet flavorful dish is the perfect way to warm up the palate for your meal. Also, who doesn’t love a little duck? Vegetarians, probably, so fair.
Next, grab some of their signature Hunan-style Chili Cumin Pork Ribs. You’ve got two options for these- a bit spicy or extra spicy. Personally, we only recommend extra spicy if you’re a spice lord or a little bit of a masochist. Hey, you do you, no judgment here.
Even if you don’t grab a large plate or a side, make sure you end your meal with their incredible creamsicles. You can choose between Thai-Iced Tea, Cherry Coconut or Vietnamese coffee.
Take our word for it and grab the Vietnamese Iced Coffee, especially if you walk next door to Foreign National afterward.
