This is the cheapest city in the Seattle area to rent in right now

Last month, we got a good look at just how much it costs to live alone in Seattle. Shocker, it’s expensive. If you’re looking to move or simply curious about where to look next, we have some data for you. These are the cheapest cities in the Seattle area to rent in right now.

Apartment List just released its May 2023 Rent Report and local rents have increased 0.6% over the past month which is down from 1.1% in April. Right now, median rents in our rainy city sit at $1,693. The median rent for a one-bedroom apartment is $1,568 whereas a two-bedroom apartment is $1,895. Keep in mind that prices remain down 1.3% year-over-year.

The same report found that March rent growth in Seattle ranked #38 among large U.S. cities, and also that Seattle is the 26th most expensive large city in the US.

So where should you rent to save a few bucks?

Currently, the cheapest city in the Seattle area is Lakewood with an average one-bedroom rent of $1,139. Following closely behind is Tacoma with an average one-bedroom rent sitting at $1,160.

Even though our city’s rental market has been a bit of a roller coaster, it looks like rising prices are starting to perhaps slow down. So it probably doesn’t hurt to shop around.
