Are you feeling the pull? That’s right, PuSh Festival is set to return to Vancouver next week, bringing some incredible performing arts options with it. The longstanding festival is a showcase of amazing talent from around Vancouver and beyond. So, let’s see what’s in store this year.
Like last year’s PuSh Festival, the organizers have opted for a hybrid model of both in-person and streaming options. And although the number of shows is small compared to years past, there’s still a wide variety of topics being addressed.

For example, 菠蘿麵包Pineapple Bun tells the story of a person ‘who must confront their diasporic guilt as they visit their hometown’, in the context of a bakery in Taipei. Or, there’s Born to Manifest, a solo performance that uses dance to show defiance, using racial identity as ‘the site of of both oppression and pride’.
Alongside the performances, PuSh Festival is also hosting a selection of artist talks and installations. One that really caught our eye was “Capitalism Works for Me! True/False”, a free, interactive installation that hopes to have participants rethinking their perception of capitalism’s place in the modern age.
PuSh Festival kicks off next Thursday, January 20th, at venues all around the city. We hope that you have fun and enjoy it while it’s on!
