Now, this is certainly not a hot take, but fall is unmatched when it comes to my favourite time of year. The air is crisp, homes feel cozier, and pumpkin-flavoured treats start making their seasonal appearance. If you’re like me, you dive into autumn activities as soon as possible, and the best one? Visiting local pumpkin patches.
There are a handful near Toronto, with some offering a lineup of other fall activities. Here are the best pumpkin patches near the city you have to check out.
Let’s start with arguably the most popular – Downey’s Farm. This family-owned spot has been around for over 100 years and truly embodies all things fall.
The farm’s fall fest runs from Sept. 20 to Oct. 31, and not only can you pick out the perfect pumpkin, you can check out a bunch of other activities, such as:
When: Sept. 20 to Oct. 31
Where: 13682 Heart Lake Rd., Caledon, Ont.
Located in Alliston, this pumpkin patch hosts a fall festival that draws a slightly smaller crowd than Downey’s, making it a great option if you prefer fewer people.
Murphy’s offers wagon rides that take you right to the patch, plus entertainment and delicious fall baked goods and desserts (cinnamon pull-apart bread, anyone?).
When: Sept. 20 to Oct. 31
Where: 5141 County Rd. 10, Alliston, Ont.
Springeride Farm is one of my favourite spots!
This farm is in Milton, and of course, you can pick pumpkins, but the best part has to be the barn market. Here, you can shop for handmade goods, food, clothing, books, and more.
When: All October
Where: 7256 Bell School Ln., Milton, Ont.
I’ll let Pingle’s do the talking here: “If you’ve never been, imagine spending the day outdoors surrounded by the colours, flavours, and traditions of fall. You can hop on a wagon ride, get lost in our corn maze, pick apples or pumpkins, and warm up with cozy treats like fresh cider donuts,” the farm shares.
The festivities are on all of October.
When: All October
Where: 1805 Taunton Rd., Hampton, Ont.
Happy pumpkin patchin’, Toronto.
