Ahhhh, looks like those summer sips just got a whole lot sweeter! Today, the City of Vancouver announced that the seasonal public drinking plazas will become a permanent fixture. The news comes off the heels of back-to-back successful pilots, so here’s what to know!
After teasing the return of the program earlier this year, the city has designated 6 different spaces to once more become public drinking plazas for residents.

While the program is permanent, it should be noted that it will stay a seasonal thing. The plazas will open on June 15th and run the entire summer, ending on October 16th. During that time, those of legal drinking age can open a wobbly pop or two between the hours of 11AM and 9PM.
For those looking for even more options, Parks Vancouver has also brought back public drinking in parks around the city for the summer as well. All told, you’ve now got dozens of options for public drinking in Vancouver, and it’s getting us seriously excited for weekends this summer!
