A FREE two-day street festival celebrating Japanese Canadian culture is coming to Vancouver

Who’s ready for another exciting street festival? If there’s anything that Vancouver summers are known for, it’s beautiful weather, delicious night markets, and exciting festivals. Fortunately, the annual Powell Street Festival combines all three into two days of family-friendly fun. Let’s get into it!

Every year, one of the largest Japanese Canadian festivals in the country takes over the historic Powell Street neighbourhood, AKA Vancouver’s Japantown.

The festival showcases the art, culture, and heritage of the Japanese Canadian community through a wide range of performances, exhibitions, and traditional eats.

There are a few things to check out if you decide to visit. Oppenheimer Park will be where most of the action is, with live performances, booths, and other fun activities planned. But, We definitely think a stroll down Alexander Street is a must as well, to check out all the vendors that are signing on for the weekend.

We’re talking food, we’re talking crafts, we’re talking arts and a whole lot more! And with this being a free option in the city, we absolutely think it’s worth making the trip down there.

So there you have it, Vancouver! If you’re looking for a fun-filled event for the whole family to enjoy, this is a great option.
