We love light displays over the holidays! From the Winter Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls to Christmas Glow in Toronto, Ontario has several festivities to check out if you enjoy all the holiday sparkles. And one city in Ontario takes it to the next level. As an annual tradition, Port Colborne is calling all Clark Grisworld’s for a home decorating contest.
Port Colborne is a city with deep marine heritage, and is located along Lake Erie. Among its historic shopping district, and its beachfronts, this city is also home to several holiday experiences. The city has a Lighted Santa Claus Parade which takes place on December 2, the Historical and Marine Museum hosts their Grand Old Christmas Festival on December 3, and it is also hosting the Home for the Holiday’s Decorating Contest.
“Calling all Clark Griswold’s of Port Colborne,” states the city. “Since 2020, we have been looking for the best holiday decorations in town! Port Colborne residents are invited to PORTicipate in their very own home decorating contest.”
There are a couple of categories they are looking at including best lawn display/house lights, and best balcony/door display.

For locals, entries are to be sent to the city by December 15. And winners are chosen by the community, with voting taking place on the city’s Meta page.
If you’re looking to go for a drive and check out the city, the Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum, on 280 King Street, features “a heritage village of century-old buildings in a landscaped setting of historic gardens, pathways, picket fences, and a covered pavilion with picnic tables and park benches.” It serves as an exhibit gallery, showing the history of Port Colborne. The Heritage Village also includes a log schoolhouse, and Graf Loom, Arabella’s Tea Room and a Carriage House Gift Shop.
Enjoy the sparkling lights of Port Colborne & their homes!
