Buckle up. This is where I thrive. Bloor West is known as one of the coolest stretches of street in the city of Toronto. It has tons of shopping, places to eat, and spots to hang out. If I ever have no plans, you can almost always catch me strolling anywhere on Bloor between Spadina and Dufferin, and I’ve curated the perfect itinerary if you’d like to do so, too.
Okay, we’re starting our day at BMV Books (the Bloor location, obviously). This is where I get all my reads from, and it’s the perfect start to the day. There’s also a Value Village next door if you want to squeeze in a little thrift shopping.
Now, we stroll quite a ways down to around Christie Pitts. If you’re out in a about on a warmer day, be sure to stop by the park and lounge on the hill until you’re ready to go again. You won’t have to go far, as Saving Gigi is just a few steps away. If you weren’t aware, the breakfast sandwiches here are some of the best in the city, paired best with a latte.
Take that latte to go and continue west, where you’ll find Siberia Vintage. I’ve found some incredible pieces here, and while the store is small, you could easily spend an hour in here.
Late afternoon and early evening are approaching, and that means it’s time for food and drinks. Now, these suggestions will not be in logistical order; I’m just going to name some spots, and you can choose based on the vibe you’re going for that night.
If you want to catch a sporting event, there’s only one place you need to go: Hurricanes. Yep, it’s my favourite sports bar in the city and it’s right by Ossington Station. Is it fancy? No. But do they have a bunch of TVs, drinks and pub food? You bet.
Want to elevate your evening, but don’t want anything too fancy? Your next option is a place where I’m pretty certain they know me by name: Burdock Brewery. They have home brews, cocktails, and realllyyyy yummy bites. The Bloor location also serves as a music hall, so if there’s a good show happening that night, it’s a win-win.
Speaking of cocktails, a night on Bloor must include a stop at Civil Liberties. This award-winning cocktail bar is the coolest. You can walk in, tell the bartender what you typically enjoy drinking, and they’ll whip you up something they think you’ll love. The vibes are immaculate.
Going on a first date? Paradise Grapevine is the perfect mix of intimate and cool. The wine options are endless, and it’s so cozy in there, you’ll feel like you’re hanging out at home.
I could go on and on about the restaurants on Bloor West, but to save you the headache, I will list my favourites and a dish I think you need to try there:
And there you have it. Bloor West deserves to be cherished, so enjoy it to the fullest, Toronto.
