What does a small Ontario village have in common with one of America’s most famous last names? They’re both important parts of Canadian model and actor Paul Anthony Kelly’s story.
The breakout star is best known for portraying John F. Kennedy Jr. in the first season of the FX miniseries Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette.
The first season captures the intense romance and marriage of JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
Kelly has caught the eyes of many fans, not just thanks to his likeness to the late American businessman and attorney, but also for being a heartthrob. And we’re definitely not the only ones saying this.
But imagine our surprise when we found out he’s from a village in Ontario.
In his first-ever interview with Interview Magazine, Kelly confirmed he was from a small town in Canada named Port McNicoll.
Port McNicoll, Ont., is located in the Simcoe County township of Tay.
The township includes the villages of Port McNicoll, Victoria Harbour, Waubaushene and Waverley, and according to its official site, it has a permanent population of 10,000.
It’s not a far drive from Toronto, just over an hour, and it’s “rich in business opportunities, especially in tourism and agriculture.”
Not much is known about Kelly besides the fact that he moved to Toronto and got scouted for modelling, which eventually led him to New York. He was an international fashion model for about 20 years.
In his interview, he shared that that’s when he really wanted to start acting. And we’re glad he did.
According to his IMDB page, this is his first major acting gig, with more on the horizon.
Though a second season of this Love Story has yet to be announced, we’re keeping our fingers crossed that we’ll see Kelly on our TVs again.
For now, we’ll just sit here feeling extra proud that the breakout star is one of our own. Go Canada, go!
