What’s a Bothy?

Okay, we know what you’re thinking. Why is it called a holiday bothy? Here’s where the Highlands come in. A bothy is a small cottage found in national nature reserves and remote mountainous areas in Scotland, Northern England, Ulster, and Wales.

These quaint shelters are always left unlocked to provide respite for travellers when they’re out exploring. The open-door policy, rustic comfort, and inviting atmosphere create a sense of connection and community in wild spaces. All of this came together to inspire the Park Hyatt Toronto’s innovative holiday pop-up concept.
