This 250 mile trail takes you on a scenic trek across Washington State’s diverse terrain

Have you ever wished that there was one trail that could show all sorts of Washington terrain? Well, the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail does just that. With 250 miles of trail, you can take a short hike, make a day trip out of it, or even make it a multi-day excursion.

The Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail is part of an emerging multi-state trail system. It runs from the beautiful Cascade range to the scablands giving hikers, cyclists, and, even equestrians, a taste of Washington’s natural diversity.

The linear park portion runs from the North Bend area to the Columbia River and continues from Lind to the Idaho border.

As the trail was once part of the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul, and Pacific Railroad, you’ll get to go through old tunnels and over old rail bridges. From stunning waterfalls to lush forests and farmlands, there’s a view that you’re sure to enjoy.

If you plan to check out the trail keep in mind that the portion of the trail between Gashaus Road in Rosalia to the new trailhead location in Malden is closed for construction. It is expected to remain closed until this fall. There is no bypass during the closure so you can expect to have an out-and-back experience on either side.

It’s also worth noting that you must pre-register online for the section of trail between Beverly and the Idaho border. For the Renslow to the Columbia River section, you can register at the trailhead.
