With Vancouver temperatures climbing to the 20s this week, it’s a great time to start planning some trips to your local outdoor pool or spray park. The good news is that many have already opened for the season, and more are on the way!
As of May 17, 2025, the outdoor New Brighton and Second Beach Pools are now open daily, with temporary extended hours to accommodate extra demand prior to Kitsilano Pool reopening mid-June.
The pools at New Brighton and Second Beach are temporarily operating at the following hours (public swim sessions available for booking):
Maple Grove Pool reopens for the season on Saturday, June 14, 2025 and will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Hillcrest Aquatic Centre has both an indoor pool and an outdoor one, both of which are temporarily closed until Sunday, June 29, 2025, for annual maintenance.
In addition to these pools, nine swimming beaches in Vancouver are now staffed with lifeguards to ensure beach-goers can safely enjoy their visit: English Bay, Jericho, Kitsilano, Locarno, Spanish Banks East and West, Sunset, Second, Third, and Trout Lake.
As well, Vancouver’s 15 spray parks are now operating from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily until Tuesday, Sep. 30, 2025.
The spray park at Chaldecott Park (4175 Wallace St.) is currently closed for repairs until further notice. The City’s wading pools open between June 30 and July 2, 2025, depending on location.
Note that Vancouver’s wading pools may not operate on rainy days, or may operate with reduced hours. If you’re unsure whether or not they’re open, reach out to your local community centre or park prior to your visit.
Summer is almost here, Vancouver. It’s time to bust out the swimsuits and get ready to dive into all the season has to offer.
