Ontario landmarks are lighting up blue & white tonight to welcome the Blue Jays home

Ontario is rolling out the red (well, blue) carpet to welcome the Toronto Blue Jays back home. The team is returning to Rogers Arena this Friday for their first home game in almost two years, and it’s safe to say that the excitement is real. Niagara Falls landmarks will light up blue and white in tribute to the Jays tonight.

“The illumination of Niagara Falls in blue [and] white is a breathtaking welcome home for Canada’s beloved Blue Jays and a unique symbol of the united support the team has received from both nations these past two years,” said Niagara Falls Tourism via CP24.

The Skylon Tower and Fallsview casino will also light up in the team’s signature colours. According to Niagara Falls’ illumination schedule, the Jays’ homecoming light show will take place from 10 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. on July 29th.

The CN Tower will also glow blue for the home team on Thursday night ahead of the big game, where 15,000 fans are expected to cheer from the stands as the Jays face off against the Kansas City Royals.

Toronto’s mayor John Tory issued a heartfelt thank you to the City of Buffalo “for welcoming our [Blue Jays] with open arms during the pandemic,” and hopes to “catch a game” with Buffalo’s mayor someday.

Tickets are now on sale for the Jays’ split doubleheader game on August 7 against the Boston Red Sox, with prices starting at around $88 each on Ticketmaster. Not exactly the cheap seats you remember from pre-pandemic days, but we’d pay just about anything to cheer them on in person at this point!
