Apparently in Ontario, you can now be the proud owner of your own mini jail house. Not creepy at all!
Call it a little piece of history because Perth Gaols is a heritage designation that’s now available for purchase in Perth, 62 Beckwith St E. According to the rental listing on Realtors.ca, this “mixed-use” redevelopment can be used for anything else, other than what it once was – AKA a jailhouse.
It was first built in 1862 so whether you convert it into a hotel, residential units, or anything else, it’s important to note that “heritage designation will require close attention to details to meet heritage restoration guidelines from the Town of Perth.”
If you’re looking to upgrade the space, make sure you have all your bases covered with the township.

Now for the nitty gritty. According to the listing, the jailhouse is on sale for $495,000 and has been on the site for 83 days.
It has zero bathrooms so you may need to check out that plumbing situation. But what it does have are parking spaces – and lots of them.
It has a roundabout entrance and stone walls bordering the building. As for its interior, you can probably already guess what it’ll look like.

Chipped painting, jail cells, heavy metal doors, and more! This charming space just needs a little facelift.
As for electricity, you’ll also want to look into it unless you find hanging wires and industrial lights a must in your new industrial space.

Of course, for anyone looking for an investment project and/or house to flip, Perth Gaols fits all the requirements. For more pictures of the development, click here.
Who knows? Maybe you’ve found your forever home… maybe.
