A few weeks back, Gastown lost an iconic name when the Irish Heather Shebeen announced that it would be closing down shop. However, it was only a few short days before news broke that they’d be moving into a new space in Chinatown! And now, over a month later, it looks like they’re finally gearing up to open.
The Irish Heather was a staple spot in Gastown for over 26 years, more than earning its right to be called a culinary institution in the city. And, thanks to an amazing menu focusing on traditional Irish dishes, the praise was well deserved. Pair that with a whiskey list that was practically impossible to beat, and the Irish Heather was as much of a treat the first time around as it was the 10th.

And even though that was great, we can’t help but get excited about the new space as well. Located at 248 E Georgia Street, the new location is right beside some amazing names, and just a stone’s throw away from the downtown core. Hey, kinda like the last location!
According to a recent Instagram post, fans of this iconic spot will be able to visit as soon as next week for a grand reopening! We’ll keep our eyes peeled for you, folks!
