The end of September is a great time to light up the night sky, with the golden hue of autumn leaves and the oncoming winter chill making the glow even more cozy. That’s just what will happen at this year’s Night Light, an experience taking place across Calgary’s downtown core.
Presented by the Victoria Park Business Improvement Area, the event will light up Victoria Park at several unique sites in downtown Calgary.
Artists will meet at the convergence of installation and live performance while this three-day celebration transforms the park into a dazzling spectacle of light.
Night Light is a launchpad for the future of light art, igniting the spirit of Calgary by creating space for artists to experiment and innovate with creative ideas.
Night Light seeks to make the city of Calgary a playground of light and art by connecting artists with cutting-edge technology, professional support and public exhibition opportunities.
You’ll be awe-inspired by the displays that celebrate the impact of light art with kaleidoscopic colours and movement.
The Victoria Park Business Improvement Area have partnered with B!g Art to bring more public art to the city and create more opportunities for artists pushing creative boundaries.
This free, family-friendly event can be experienced right in the heart of downtown, with glowing public art displays lighting up the night sky for three days between Sept. 25 and 27.
Work by Calgary-based and visiting artists will be on public display, with designs inspired by everything from neural networks to puppetry, circus and mythical creatures.
Make sure you wander downtown at the end of the month to catch all the action for yourself at these locations:
