In search of somewhere to play your next pickleball match in Calgary, Alberta?
Look no further, because the city has unveiled 12 brand-new courts in a popular athletic park and they’ll be free to visit on a first-come, first-served basis!
If you live in the Northwest, consider yourself lucky because these courts have been built in the Foothills Athletic Park, a development that follows the removal of the old Volleydome.
Want to check them out?
Construction began in July and will open to the public on September 23rd, 2024.
“Pickleball is a sport emerging across the globe and Calgary is no exception,” the city explains.
“This sport blends ping pong, tennis and badminton and is perfect for all ages and skill levels. Adding these temporary courts at Foothills helps to meet the growing demand for pickleball while ensuring other court-based activities remain available.”
While Calgary offers 160 outdoor tennis courts, many of which are adapted for pickleball, these are among the first few to have been dedicated to the great game.
Enjoy and happy playing!
