This Canadian Heritage River in BC leads to a stunning natural bridge made of stone

From emerald lakes to towering waterfalls, Yoho National Park on the western slopes of the Great Divide offers visitors no shortage of natural wonders to explore. Among national historic sites and the famed Burgess Shale fossil hikes (AKA, some of the oldest fossils in the world!), there is a stunning natural stone bridge situated above the Kicking Horse River.

The Canadian Heritage River was named after a near-fatal accident where Doctor James Hector was kicked by his packhorse. It flows from Wapta Lake down to the expansive gravel flats near the Village of Field, where visitors can continue on to access the stunning Wapta Falls.

The waterfall towers over the river at 30 metres high and 150 metres wide. Those interested in an adventure can access the falls through either a 4.6 km hike, or a 2 km vehicle-accessible road during the summer months.
