This Ontario hiking trail is among the world’s “top 10 most timeless”

Sometimes, the beaten path is worth taking! In the case of The Bruce Trail, it definitely is. The famous Ontario trail was just recently ranked one of the top 10 most timeless walking routes in the world.

In a new report by the UK-based specialist tour operator Inghams, the magnificent trail was revealed to be the 9th most “timeless” in the world, based on its consistent popularity over the past three years

Others mentioned in the report include The Cotswolds in the UK, the world-famous Inca Trail in Peru, The Andes, and The Great Smoky Mountains of the U.S.

Google searches of The Bruce Trail amount to 8,640 every single year, making it among the most popular among hikers across the globe.

Those who are familiar with this trail can attest that it lives up to the hype.

This footpath extends from Tobermory all the way to Niagara, protecting the breathtaking Niagara Escarpment UNESCO World Biosphere.

The Escarpment is one of “Canada’s irreplaceable natural wonders,” according to The Bruce Trail Conservancy.

There are over 900 km of main trail routes and 450 km of side trails to explore, with cobble beaches, open meadows, waterfalls, rocky crevices, old-growth forests, and awe-inspiring views to soak up along the way.

To determine the top 10, researchers at Inghams used Google’s Keyword Planner to analyze 122 of the world’s popular hiking trails and walking locations.

They also compared search results from year to year, revealing which walking routes have seen the biggest increase in searches.

Based on what they found, here are the top 10 most timeless walking routes in the world:

1. The Cotswolds, UK
2. The Inca Trail, Peru
3. The Andes – Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentine, and Chile
4. The Black Forest, Germany
5. The Great Smoky Mountains, USA
6. The Great Dividing Range, Australia
