Toronto’s new illuminated path filled with giant glowing spheres opens today

A unique travelling art installation is lifting spirits in Toronto for the next four weeks. The moonGARDEN will be opening on Monday evening at 5:30 p.m. and will bring a dreamy illuminated experience to the downtown core.

The travelling art installation was commissioned by Oxford Properties Group and created by the Montreal-based design firm Lucion. It features multiple spheres that range from six to 12 feet high.

Visitors will get to walk between the spheres as they glow and transform through animated and immersive shadow theatre designs.

“The show offers an unequivocal invitation into the world of dreams,” the description says.

This is the first time that moonGARDEN has ever debuted in Ontario. It has been showcased in over 20 cities around the world, including Beijing, Brussels, Jerusalem, Moscow, Washington, Mexico City, Medellin, and Houston.

Over 1 million people around the globe have walked through the moonGARDEN, and now Torontonians will get their turn.

In addition to the installation, a Chef’s Hall pop-up will also serve up food and drinks in the area from vendors Lost Coffee and Colibri.

Lost Coffee will serve drip coffee, hot chocolate, tea, apple cider and a selection of baked goods. Colibri will serve Mexican chili with garlic bread.

The pop-up will be open during Monday’s opening and then every Wednesday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. until March 4th.

There are several outdoor art exhibits to check out around the city this month, including Harbourfront Centre’s Nordic Lights display and the Winter Stations sculpture series at Toronto’s Beaches.
