Mini Mart City Park is Georgetown’s new art space & it’s in an old gas station

It’s not every day that Seattle gets a new arts organization or space. Especially one that’s been in development for 15 years. Mini Mart City Park was once a gas station and today it’s a pocket park and arts-oriented community center in Georgetown.

While cool and all you may be wondering why? Basically, in 2005 SuttonBeresCuller had the vision to identify and rehabilitate a piece of land to give back to the Seattle community. In the end that’s what they’ve been able to do, repair damaged land and provide a multi-use community space all propelled by the potential of art.

The space features sliding walls and a green roof that allows indoor and outdoor activities to blend. Some of the imagined future events for the space include gallery shows, movies in the park, potlucks, community meetings, readings, and live music. It’s a great addition to the community and one that will continue the site’s history with a new and improved purpose.

If you’d like to check out an event or learn more about the space be sure to check out the park’s Instagram.
