Ready to do some exploring away from the city? Mayne Island is one of many scenic islands in the Southern Gulf, accessible via ferry from Vancouver to Victoria. And if you’re looking for a lovely spot to spend a day or catch the sunset, you’ll definitely want to consider checking out St. John Point Regional Park.

The 26-hectare waterfront park is a popular spot among locals and visitors alike, offering lush forest and rocky beaches to explore.

The park’s website says it’s a great spot to bird watch or take a stroll via “moderate” hiking trails” along rocky bluffs.

St. John is also recognized as a significant conservation area with a rich cultural history. Known as ŦÁ,WEN by the Coast Salish First Nations, the area is home to multiple at-risk species and ecosystems, which is why dogs are required to be leashed.

Note that cycling and equestrian activities are not permitted for the same reason.

So there you have it, BC! Happy adventuring.
