This picturesque Vancouver park has a popular outdoor pool that’s now open for the season

Coming off a seriously hot weekend, there’s nothing better than planning a dip in the pool. Fortunately for Vancouver residents, another city pool is now officially open for the season: Kerrisdale’s Maple Grove Pool.

Vancouver’s popular outdoor wading pool and water park officially opens for the season

The fully heated outdoor wading pool is popular with families and young swimmers, as it’s three and a half feet deep and wheelchair accessible. So while the serious swimmer won’t necessarily be getting their laps in here, it’s the perfect place to splash around and cool off as the days get hotter.

There’s even a mini island in the middle of the free-form pool where you can sit and catch some rays.

This pool also boasts a water basketball hoop, making it all the more fun to bring the family together for a pool day.

How to reserve your spot

Ready to make a splash? You can reserve your spot online, with admission priced at $7.93 for adults, $5.55 for seniors and youth, and $3.95 for children. Young swimmers aged four and under get free admission at all of Vancouver’s outdoor pools.

For one adult and one child (ages five to 18 years old), tickets are priced together at $7.93.

Otherwise, Maple Grove Pool accepts the Leisure Access Program (LAP) pass, a 10-visit pass, or a Flexipass.

Currently, Vancouver has a Splash Sale going on where you can get two bonus visits for free when you buy a 10-visit pass between June 1 and July 12.

While advance tickets are not required to enjoy this pool, they are recommended, as only 25 per cent of spots are drop-in friendly.

Know before you go

Before your visit, it’s good to note a couple of city requirements.

Firstly, while bike racks are available at the pool, you’ll need ot bring your own lock, and bikes are not permitted inside the fenced pool area.

Dogs must be leashed at all times in Maple Grove Park and must remain outside of the fenced pool area.

Children under seven years old must be accompanied by a responsible guardian while in the water, with one guardian supervising up to five children at a time.

Starting Monday, June 15, Maple Grove Pool will be open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1:30 to 4 p.m., and 4:30 to 7 p.m.
