This BC park is home to enchanting waterfalls in a mountainside setting

If you’re in search of a well-maintained provincial park with multiple natural features to enjoy, look no further than Little Qualicum Falls. Situated on central Vancouver Island near Port Alberni and Qualicum, the provincial park boasts a strong network of trails that wind their way through old-growth forests along the banks of the Little Qualicum River.

As visitors navigate the well-maintained pathways under canopies of ancient trees, they’ll come across breathtaking waterfalls that cascade down a rocky gorge, bordered by steep mountain peaks. The falls, lake swimming, shaded riverside trails, and picnic facilities make Little Qualicum Falls a very popular family destination.

Speaking of, the unique mountain surroundings create a wind funnel that is deal for sailboarding, so if the goal is to get out on the water, you’ve got plenty of options at the southern shore of Cameron Lake.

Note that the area from 75 metres above the Middle Falls Bridge to the downstream park boundary below the Lower Falls Bridge is closed to swimming.

Cameron Lake and Beaufort day-use areas are open to swimming, located 10 minutes west of the campground, on Highway 4.
