Canadian actor Keanu Reeves signs 1-day contract with an OHL team

From the big screen to the ice! Beloved Canadian actor Keanu Reeves made a major career shift recently but don’t worry, it isn’t a permanent change. The actor signed a one-day contract with the Ontario Hockey League’s Windsor Spitfires this week, fulfilling a teenage dream of his.

Reeves, a Toronto native, tried out for the team when he was a teenager as a goalie prospect but due to an injury, didn’t end up playing. The Spits gave the actor a chance to be on the roster again posting about the 1-day signing on social media.

In a moment of happenstance, the Windsor Spitfires Hockey Club were finally able to add this former Ontario Hockey League goalie prospect, turned Dogstar bass player, to their roster with a one-day contract! Welcome to the #YQG Keanu Reeves!” wrote the Windsor Spitfires.

The 59-year-old also signed a number of items including jerseys to be auctioned off with proceeds going towards the Canadian Mental Health Association of Windsor-Essex.

We know he’s used to playing action stars on the big screen, but can he bring that action to the ice?

Ironically, Reeves has brought his goalie talents to an acting role before in a 1986 film, “Youngblood”. Not only did he play a goalie, it was the actor’s first big role as he starred alongside Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze!

Never give up on your dreams, Ontario and congratulations on your spot with the Windsor Spitfires, Keanu Reeves.
