This BC park’s boardwalk leads to a beach with stunning views of the Olympic Peninsula

Love uncovering hidden beaches? This provincial park in BC has just that – and it’s a fave among locals. Situated along the beautiful Juan de Fuca Strait, Jordan River Regional Park is a popular destination for Victoria and Sooke residents during the warmer months, and it’s definitely worth checking out for yourself.

From the parking lot, visitors can follow a short 400-metre hike through coastal rainforest and old-growth cedars on a scenic boardwalk trail to the famed Sandcut Beach.

Named for its unique sandstone formations, the 3.5 km-long cobbled beach is the perfect place to spend a spring or summer afternoon, and even has access to a picturesque oceanside waterfall!

Along the beach, visitors can spot fossilized sea shells, revealed little by little as the sandstone erodes. And while you can’t take them home with you, they certainly make for a fascinating story and photo!

There are also breathtaking views of the Olympic Peninsula to take in during your visit.

Facilities include self-contained camping sites that are first-come-first-serve, which can be enjoyed for $25 per night (plus $10 per additional vehicle).

So there you have it, BC! It’s the perfect time to start planning a trip to the Island!
