Melissa McCarthy & Clive Owen are in Calgary filming a true crime mini-series

Wild Rose Country has become a Hollywood hotspot. In addition to Die, My Love starring Jennifer Lawrence and The Abandons, a chilling mini-series based on the well-known JonBenét Ramsey case is also filming in Calgary, Alberta.

Starring Academy Award nominees Melissa McCarthy (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) and Clive Owen (Closer), the upcoming project will be produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios for Paramount+ and will be party directed by Anne Sewitsky (Presumed Innocent).

According to the streaming platform, the show will explore the tragic unsolved murder of the six-year-old beauty queen and will follow the family before and after their painful loss.

“At the heart of the series, it is the story of Patsy and John Ramsey – exploring the unbreakable partnership of these two complex people – as husband and wife, as mother and father – who had committed themselves and their children to building the narrative of a perfect, privileged life only to have it destroyed one Christmas night in 1996,” they explain.

“JonBenét Ramsey continues to be one of the country’s most fascinating unsolved murders,” added Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President of programming at Paramount+.

“The incredible talent of Melissa McCarthy, Clive Owen and the creative team led by Richard LaGravenese will illuminate her story with the acuity and nuance it deserves.”

While it’s unclear when the 8-episode series will premiere, the Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) has confirmed they will be in town filming until February 12th, 2025, so keep your eyes open.

You never know what or who you’ll see in the area.

It’s going to be an action-packed fall.
