This Toronto street is lined with giant 14-foot Santas and here’s why

There’s a big reason Inglewood Drive in Toronto is nicknamed Kringlewood…

Inglewood, a quiet residential street in the Moore Park area, gets into the holiday spirit every year in a pretty creative way. This festive road follows the annual tradition of lining the street with giant inflatable Santas.

The tradition was started as a joke in 2013 by Inglewood Drive resident Amy Westin and her husband, but the fun and silly gag caught on with fellow residents fast.

Nowadays, anyone who comes out to see the 14-foot Santas (some towering as tall as the homes they stand in front of) can expect upwards of 50 to 70 jolly Saint Nicks. The Santas span approximately 1 km from St. Clair East to Rosedale Heights.

The Inglewood Santas aren’t just something for the neighbours to enjoy. People travel from all over the GTA to either walk or drive the block and soak in some holiday cheer. The many Kris Kringles make for great photo ops, or just a cute talking point.

Taking the TTC over is easy, just head to St. Clair station and walk over to the intersection at Mount Pleasant Road and Inglewood Drive, or take the 88B bus from St. Clair station to cut down the walking time.

If you’re looking to do something festive and free before Christmas, you know where to go, Toronto. Ho, ho, ho!

Happy holidays.
