Toronto’s beloved holiday window displays at The Bay are changing & here’s what to expect

Toronto’s most beloved holiday window displays are going digital this year. The Hudson’s Bay annual window tradition is unveiling a new interactive augmented reality experience in Canada powered by Meta Spark tech.

If you’ve ever stopped by the five-window holiday display along Queen Street downtown, then you know that every year they showcase something special. This year, passerbys will feast their eyes on animatronic vignettes and take fun pictures with them for the holidays.

“For more than 100 years, these holiday windows have been quintessential to the Toronto experience,” said Alexander Meyer, Chief Customer Officer at The Bay.

“With the digital transcendence of this year’s windows, we are creating a whole new level of connectivity for our customers, not only in Toronto but throughout Canada.”

According to the retailer, for the first time ever, Canadians will be able to “transport” themselves digitally inside the windows from anywhere across the country by scanning the QR code.

Here are this year’s themes:

  • Snow-Making Department
  • Candy Cane Department
  • Gifting Department
  • Ornament-Making Department
  • Mail-Room Department

You’ll be able to explore elements from all displays using the front and back cameras on your smartphones. How cool is that?! What a way to immerse yourself into the holidays.
