The Rockies have some of the most beautiful lakes and rivers in Canada – but some are far ‘cooler’ than others. This summer, beat the heat at Horseshoe Lake a crystal clear swimming hole in Jasper National Park, Alberta – known to few, but beloved by all who have travelled there.

While it’s important to exercise caution – this stunning destination is absolutely worth the trip this sunny season.

Surrounded by tall cliffs, green trees and mountain views, Horseshoe Lake is a tranquil oasis perfect for lounging around, cliff diving, however, is a different story.

While this might look like an adrenaline seeker’s dream, Parks Canada does not recommend jumping from any overhanging rocks due to its deceivingly shallow pockets of water.

Lecture aside, there really is magic at this lake – especially on those hotter days.

To get to the Horseshoe Lake watering hole, here’s what you need to know!

Once in Jasper, follow Highway 93 South until you get to the Horseshoe Lake Trail – it’ll take you approximately a half hour. Once there, hike into the forested area across from the parking lot for about 1.5 km – this is where you’ll find the perfect summer hang.

It really is bliss, so pick a weekend, hit the mountains and enjoy, Alberta.
