Seattle is lucky to have a few things leftover from the Century 21 Exposition. Most notably the Space Needle and of course our unique Monorail. But between expanded King County transit, car share services, and WFH, what exactly is the future of Seattle’s Monorail?
It turns out the rail line is here to stay because many people do indeed use the train to go between Downtown Seattle and the Seattle Center. And that means the city is currently working on an improvement project that will provide better service and experience for riders. Some of those changes include doubling capacity to 6,000 riders per hour in each direction. Not to mention there will also be better access to the monorail terminals and improved transit connections.

Not only will these improvements be great for commuters but they’ll also help fans get to and from Climate Pledge Arena. Especially considering that all of this work should be completed by fall 2021. But that does seem pretty quick to us, so we’ll hold our breath for the completion date. Regardless of when it’s finished, we’re very happy that this iconic piece of Seattle is here to stay.
