If you’re into skiing or any outdoor sports involving snow then you know the dangers of avalanches. And chances are you’ve probably done some training to avoid them or understand how they start. But what about when humans start them on purpose? Well, check out this crazy video from Snoqualmie Pass this week.

In case you didn’t know, ski patrol and the department of transportation actually start some avalanches on purpose. They do this when there’s an abundance of snow on areas know to experience the deadly slides. And while it seems dangerous, it’s actually to keep you safe. Not to mention, it also keeps the roads safe for drivers which is the case with the video below.

Because the more snow they clear, the lesser chance you have of being in or starting an avalanche. Not to mention we get to watch sweet videos like the one above thanks to the ski patrol’s hard work. So it’s a win-win if you ask us and we’re glad that our local ski spots and roads are so safe.
