Thinking of recreating Gone in 60 Seconds, but with mid-range SUVs? Well then, you might want to take a look at the list of the most stolen cars in Canada so far this year. Just kidding, we know our readers would never be so mean as to actually commit Grand Theft Auto. That’s what the video game is for, after all!
This year’s list was dominated by SUVs and trucks that have come out over the past few years. Hondas, Toyotas and Lexuses (Lexi?) were the most popular, with their models representing roughly 80% of the most-stolen vehicles. No sedans or coupes made the list, either.

The annual report from the Insurance Bureau of Canada does offer some insight into why these cars were stolen. The availability of pickups in Alberta meant that Ford F-series and Dodge Rams were the most common targets. Meanwhile, street racing and illegal export rings in Ontario led to a higher number of Lexus models and Hondas getting stolen.
Sadly, there’s no data on what BC was looking like in the report. Bummer, we hoped it would be filled with Porsche and Ferrari models.
