Well Seattle, we know that you’re feeling restless. After all, COVID-19 has really shaken this year up. So if you’re looking to get out of your routine or do something new, we’re here to help you. We know that going on a typical vacation isn’t exactly in the books, so how about some staycation activities? Here are 8 things to do in Seattle that will make you feel like a tourist in your own city.
You know about fish throwing at Pike Place but do you know about Fisherman’s Terminal? This sneaky spot is tucked into Interbay and is one of the best places to buy seafood in the city. So not only will get to go somewhere new but you’ll also be supporting local fishermen.
If you’re into grunge music then you’re probably aware that Kurt Cobain lived in Seattle. And while his final living place is gone, you can visit his bench next to where his house once stood. But we’ll warn you, it’s in one of Seattle’s nicest neighborhoods and parking is next to impossible. So either walk or transit.
North Bend is just a short drive from Seattle and was the inspiration for the hit TV show Twin Peaks. And while we generally advocate staying in the city at this time, a short drive to North Bend might be good for you. That being said, be respectful of the community and keep others safe.
Say what? In case you didn’t know, Discovery Park is the place to do day hikes. And while these are no Mount Rainier, the park is bigger than you think and it’s absolutely worth it to devote a day to wandering the park. Because who knows what you’ll find in Discovery Park.

You’ve probably driven by this park but have you ever actually walked through it? It’s pretty dang cool and you can see massive sculptural works by both local and international artists. Not to mention, it’s one of the only art spaces that’s technically open during COVID-19.
While you can’t actually see a show, you can see the artworks that inspired the band’s name and the name of their hit song. So head to Volunteer Park to see the Black Sun. And over to Magnuson Park to see A Sound Garden.
Yes, you read that right. In case you didn’t know, Georgetown is hiding a massive secret. And that’s the huge pair of cowboy boots and hat that are smack dab in the middle of it. So if you fancy yourself a fan of western, this might be a trip worth making.
If you thought watching paint dry was exciting, try staring at a rock. But this rock is not just a regular rock, it weighs 700 tons and was transported by the last Ice Age. And if you ask us that’s pretty dang cool.
Okay, folks, we hope that you enjoy this short list of things to do in Seattle for a unique little staycation. We know it’s simple but often the best things in life are simple. So get out there, be present and enjoy a new day and a staycation.
