Alright, so the time has come and you’ve found yourself at the helm of choosing where you and your coworkers should go for lunch. You’re panicked, because not only is your boss joining, but also the office ‘foodie’ Steve. Don’t worry, we’ve got your back. Here are 7 great places to check out for business lunches around Pioneer Square.
Casco Antiguo
Authentic Mexican rides the line between familiar and exotic. The tamer people will be content with a couple of tacos or enchiladas. The adventurous might instead want some plantain empanadas or the pozole, which is braised pork and hominy in guajillo broth.
Hours: Daily, 11AM-10PM
Where: 115 Occidental Avenue S
Damn the Weather
One block away from Casco lies this upscale restaurant that focuses on American fare. Think progressive though, with options like smoked arctic char, roasted squash and steak frites available.
Hours: Sunday to Wednesday, 11AM-11PM and Thursday to Saturday, 11AM-12AM
Where: 116 1st Avenue S

Tat’s Delicatessen
The first of two delis worthy of this list. Tat’s is a hearty spot that is famous for their Philly Cheesesteak, so keep that in mind before you head down. Of course, you can also get a hoagie or a hot sub, but know that it’s for those who are hungry.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8AM-3PM
Where: 159 Yesler Way
Piroshki on 3rd
This counter-service cafe has a special place in our hearts. First, the piroshkis are like Russian calzones and are amazing. Second, they do some dang good pierogies. Third, their daily specials are to die for. We’re talking stroganoff, goulash, and cutlets. Woah, baby.
Hours: Monday/Tuesday, 6:30AM-6PM and Wednesday to Friday, 6:30AM-8PM
Where: 710 3rd Avenue
Nijo Sushi
While it’s a couple of blocks outside of Pioneer Square, we’re including Nijo. These guys do all sorts of Japanese dishes, ranging from agedashi tofu to short ribs to bento boxes. We like it because of the variety of tasty dishes.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 11AM-11PM
Where: 83 Spring Street
Delicatus
Our second deli pick. Delicatus looks and sounds a little more upscale than TAT’s but the sandwiches are still reasonably priced and downright delicious. We love the Reuben, but you can’t go wrong here.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 11AM-7PM, Wednesday til 7:30 PM
Where: 103 1st Avenue S
Il Corvo
Obviously, we were going to include Il Corvo on this list. Quite possibly the most famous lunch spot in the city, this iconic restaurant creates pasta dishes daily and is one of the few places where we’re happy to line up.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 11AM-3PM
Where: 217 James Street
