Canadian Grammy award winners this year include Drake, Michael Bublé & more

We’ve got some serious talent here in the north. There were several Canadian Grammy winners at the 2023 award show on Sunday, February 5th.

The 65th edition of the prestigious music awards ceremony recognized some of the most successful artists of the year, including several chart-topping Canadians.

We probably don’t need to tell you that Drake was in the winner’s circle, taking home a Grammy award for best melodic rap performance on the song “Wait For U.”

The artist received three nominations, including two in the best rap song category. However,  the best rap song of the year award was given to Kendrick Lamar for “The Heart Part 5.”

Hailing from the opposite coast, Burnaby’s own Michael Bublé took home the Grammy award for best tradition pop vocal album.

Vancouver-born musician Tobias Jesso Jr. also secured a major award — best songwriter of the year in the non-classical category.

The award marks a major milestone for Tobias Jr., the first Grammy of his career.

As for Canadian winners in other categories, Montreal conductor and pianist Yannick Nézet-Séguin won the Grammy for best opera recording of 2023.

Justin Bieber’s Our World was nominated in the best music film category, but the Ontario-born star lost to F. Marshall’s Jazz Fest: A New Orleans Story.

Beyoncé was among the biggest Grammy winners of the year, and the star will be gracing Vancouver and Toronto this summer as part of her Renaissance world tour.

Even country-pop icon Shania Twain made an appearance in the most incredible and eccentric outfit we’ve ever seen.

Canadian celebs never fail to make an impression in Hollywood. It’s safe to say that we have a fair share of talent in our provinces and territories!
