Ready for an adventure through some of the most interesting island terrain in BC? Gabriola Sands Park is one of three provincial parks on the picturesque Gabriola Island, featuring a distinct isthmus formed by two sandy beaches dividing Taylor and Pilot Bays.
The park might be day-use-only, but its stunning beaches and grassy lawns make for the perfect place to sprawl out and enjoy a day of picnicking and swimming.
Oh, and every Halloween, visitors can enjoy the island’s annual firework show!

As well, visitors to the island can check out the Malaspina Galleries (more commonly referred to as “The Galleries”), a unique wave-shaped sandstone cliff, carved out by crashing waves over millions of years.
The cliffside is a popular swimming hole and place to enjoy the sunset during the warmer months.
To get to Gabriola Island, you can hop on a 20-minute ferry from Nanaimo. The park is located on Decourcy Drive, which is a left turn on Taylor Bay Road after getting off the ferry at the Gabriola Island Ferry Terminal.
