As of Friday, April 14th, organizers have issued the following statement:
“Due to logistical issues and impossible time constraints, the Frida Kahlo: The Immersive Biography exhibition will not be able to make it to Vancouver this May as originally planned. Anyone who has purchased tickets to the exhibition can be refunded at point of purchase or through TicketLeader at ticketleader.ca.”
Celebrated around the world for her vibrant self-portraits and incorporation of Mexican and Indigenous culture in her works, Frida Kahlo (Magdalena Carmen Friday Kahlo y Calderón) is by far one of the most recognized artists of her time. Her paintings are known for their depiction of the female experience and form, inspiring many other artists past and present.
And soon, Vancouverites can have an inside look at her life and work through a new immersive exhibition, titled “Frida Kahlo: The Immersive Biography.” Instead of using reproductions of her paintings, the experience features award-winning VR, music, historical photographs, artistry, and more to paint a realistic picture of Frida’s life and art.
After seeing much success in Spain and across Europe, the exhibit expanded to the U.S. and made its Canadian debut in Montreal. This May, art lovers in Vancouver can check out the unforgettable experience themselves.
“Frida Kahlo’s artistry continues to be more relevant than ever, and this immersive exhibition is a must-see for anyone who admires her work and legacy,” said Paul Dupont-Hébert, President of Tandem (Imagine Van Gogh, Imagine Picasso, Imagine Monet).
